Obituary for Alice Marie Blackwelder

A Bardstown resident, Mrs. Alice Marie Blackwelder, 75, passed peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 with family by her side. She was born on July 18, 1942 in Glen Cove, New York to the late James and Gertrude Miller McAleer. Alice was a former employee of Bardstown Animal Clinic and a volunteer at the Nelson County Humane Society because of her love for animals and being their voice for fair treatment. Alice was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son Vincent Hochberg and a brother, Thomas McAleer.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice W. “Maurie” Blackwelder, daughter, Kim Blackwelder, Bardstown, 3 sons, Robert (Valerie) Hochberg, Greenville, NC., Mark Hochberg, Las Vegas, Nevada, Tom Hochberg of Washington, DC and a brother, James McAleer of Locust Valley, New York. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mary Hochberg, Tyler, Hailey, Hayden Hochberg and NaLonda Clemons.
Visitation will be Monday, January 1, 2018 from 10:00am until service time at 1:00pm at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Bradshaw officiating.Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements. The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Nelson County Humane Society.
