Obituary for James "Jimmy" "Barney" Barnett

A Bardstown resident, Mr. James “Jimmy” “Barney”Barnett age 65 passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born on June 21, 1952 in Bardstown to the late William Hamilton “Ham” and Dorothy Mae Hutchins Barnett. Jimmy worked as an appraiser for banks in Bardstown. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Rotary Club, Quarterback Club and was a big UK fan and never met a stranger.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ricky Barnett and Joseph David Barnett.
He is survived by his children, James “Jay” Barnett, Carly (Blaine) Hamilton, Kendall (Shane) Burgin all of Bardstown, the mother of his children, Cathy Seyle Barnett of Bardstown, 3 sisters, Pat Barnett of Bardstown, Susie Comer of Bowling Green, Jennifer Barnett of Louisville and his brother, Billy (Denise) Barnett of Bardstown. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Olivia Hamilton, Lauren Hamilton, Aubrey Barnett and Nolan White.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00am at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Reverend Joseph C. Batcheldor celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-7:00pm with evening prayers and Monday from 8:30am-10:30am on the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements.
