Obituary for Josephine Graham Hall

Josephine Graham Hall, 93, embarked on her final journey on December 29, 2017 to join her husband Charlie. She was born on October 7, 1924 in Chaplin to Vilas and Elizabeth Moores Graham. She spent most of her early life in Bloomfield, attending Bloomfield High School and was the last surviving member of the class of 1942. She worked at Bardstown High School and Wilson Brothers Chevrolet (where she met Charlie). After marrying in 1950, they moved to Bardstown where she was also the bookkeeper for their family businesses, Hall’s Shell, Hall’s Lawn & Garden, and H&H Car Wash. During this time, she raised their four children, always available to attend their activities or drive a carload of kids to whatever class trip they had volunteered her for. She spent her last few years being cared for by the loving staff at Bluegrass Assisted Living and Windsor Gardens, who both loved her as if she were their own mom. She seldom had a cross word and was a joy to anyone blessed to be in her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie Hall and her brother Gene Graham.
She is survived by her children, Beth Mattingly and her husband Larry of Louisville, Charlotte Pendergrass and her husband Paul of Cox’s Creek, Patrick Hall and his wife Mary and Lee Hall all of Bardstown, her brother, Thomas Graham and his wife Betty Jane of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her grandchildren Lauren Mattingly Davis and Curtis Mattingly. One great grandson Justin Mattingly, five step-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00am Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Reverend Joseph Batcheldor will be celebrant and Reverend Terry Bradshaw con-celebrant. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-8:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm and Tuesday visitation from 8:30-10:30am at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Hospice of Nelson County.
