Obituary for Lois Aline Ballard

A Bardstown resident, Mrs. Lois Aline Ballard, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Windsor Gardens of Bardstown. She was born on January 15, 1936 in Bloomfield to the late William Louis Sr. and Martha Jury Marks and was a former employee of Jim Beam Distillery. Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a former tour guide, secretary for St. Joseph School and PTA member. She was a former member of the Adult and Funeral choirs for the church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William L. Marks, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony C. “Happy” Ballard, Sr., 3 sons, Anthony “Tony” Ballard Jr., of Bardstown, Christopher Jude (Diane) Ballard and Charles Gregory (Tracey) Ballard both of Louisville, 2 daughters, Gwen Ballard (Billy Kidwell) of Bardstown, Anita (Gary) Wise of Louisville and a sister, Margaret Marks of Bardstown. Lois is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00am at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Reverend Terry Bradshaw celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00pm with evening prayers and Wednesday from 8:30-10:30am at the Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements. The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mass of the Air or Bethlehem High School.
