Obituary for Shirley Jean Richardson

A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Shirley Jean Richardson, age 75, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 in Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born July 10, 1942 in St. Paul, N.C., to the late Claude and Mary Elizabeth McDonald Sikes Sr. Shirley was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Tabernacle.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Thompson, Margie Hargis, and her brother, Claude Sikes Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas Richardson, 2 daughters, Hazel (Ralph) Tindle of Shelbyville, Joyce (David) Bentley of Taylorsville, her son, Bobby (Annette) Richardson Jr. of Shelbyville, her sister, Dorothy (Bernard) Caprin of Fulton, NY., 5 grandchildren, Lisa (Brandon) Jesse, Chasidy (Glenn) Hawkins, Sandra (Bradley) Hardin, Steven (Brittney) Richardson, Sarah (Lee) Murphy, and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Jean Richardson will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Joe Vires and Sister Mavis Bennett will officiate. Interment will be in Big Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-8:00 pm. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to New Hope Tabernacle. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
