Obituary for Matilda "Tilly" Harp

Matilda “Tilly” Robinson Harp, 88, peacefully passed away May 19, 2019, in Titusville, Florida. Born on August 7, 1930, in Mt. Washington to late Ada and John Robinson, Sr, she resided in Cox’s Creek, KY and Shepherdsville, KY prior to moving to Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, George Robinson, Joetta Standiford, John “Jack” Robinson, Jr., Betty Jean Young , and Cecil Robinson.

She is survived by her loving husband JW Harp of Titusville, FL, her children Nancy (Chris) Holt Weber of St. Helena Island, SC and Howard (Susan) Holt of Orlando, FL., her step-children Janita (Gary) Hutcherson of Louisville, KY, Lisa (Chris) Hogan of Nashville, TN and Stephen Harp of Jacksonville, FL. Her sisters and brothers, Susie Howard of Loyal, KY, Mary Elizabeth Bandy, Bowling Green, KY, Linda Robinson, Bardstown, KY, and Steve Robinson, Boston, KY.

Her grandchildren include Margaret Weber, Jaclyn Holt, Anna Maria Holt, Amy Holt, Jeremy Hutcherson, Derek Hutcherson, Matthew Hogan, Jessica Whited, James Harp, and Keely Harp. She has eleven great-grandchildren. Her many nieces and nephews also held a very special place in her heart.

Tilly was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, class of 1949. She was known for her volunteer work and membership in community organizations. She was a founding member of the Cox’s Creek Junior Homemakers, a charter member of the American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of New Salem Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. She was known for her special smile, hard work, and never ending kindness.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 4:00-8:00p.m at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, followed by the burial at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at 2775 Deatsville, Rd., Cox’s Creek, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be sent to the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Nelson County 4-H Council, 317 South 3rd Street, Bardstown, KY 40004.
