Obituary for Samuel J. Beam

A former Bloomfield resident, Mr. Samuel J. Beam, age 87, passed away December 13, 2018 at his daughters residence in Texas. He was born April 29, 1931 in Louisville to the late Wilmer and Mary Joyce Oldham Beam. Sam was the former Police Chief and Fire Chief in Bloomfield, a former employee of Commonwealth Insurance Co., former employee of Nunn Milling Co. in Evansville, IN., a United States Navy Veteran, and a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Goodlett Beam, 2 daughters, Charity Gay Beam, Tonni Coulter, his sister, Emily Katherine Hunt, and 3 brothers, Col. Wilmer M. Beam, Terry A. Beam, and Joseph C. Beam.
He is survived by his daughter, Gwen (Teddy) James of New Braunfell, TX., 2 sons, David (Vicki) Dowell of Bristol, TN., Sammy Beam of Hollywood, CA., 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Samuel J. Beam will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Bro. Joe Vires will officiate. Interment will be in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-8:00 pm. The Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
